Max and the Tag-Along Moon by Floyd Cooper
Published: June 2013
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Even in the picture book format, I seldom get the chance to read a book centered around a Black boy. And this little boy is filled with awe over the light of the moon. A moon that appears to be following him home. You can see the wonder in his eyes. You can see the love that lives there too for his grandpa. The beauty of their relationship is just as bright as the light of the moon and you’ll see that full well in each of Floyd Cooper’s illustrations.
Max and the Tag-Along Moon is recommended for pre-K through 2nd grade. It would make a nice addition to any classroom or K-5 library.
